Since 1988 Art of Eastern Europe has been a direct importer of original one-of-a-kind paintings and tapestries from Eastern Europe. Importer Steven Metzler travels to Europe frequently where he maintains close relationships with painters and tapestry artists from Romania. He has acquired an impressive collection of exquisite, museum quality original art including commissioned pieces. This is without a doubt one of the largest collections of contemporary East European art in the United States. It contains works from accomplished artists well known and exhibited throughout Europe. Many of them have received prestigious international awards. Just to mention two of the artists: Viorel Marginean's exhibition at the UNESCO center in Paris was opened in 1993 by Jacques Cousteau. Ion Grigore received the prestigious awards "Omaggio a Picasso" presented by the Carravaggio Center in Rome in 1988 and "Giovanne Europa" presented by the Italian magazine Teleuropa in Rome in 1980. Art of Eastern Europe would like to introduce these accomplished European artists to the American art lovers. Our inventory is much larger than the one presented on our web site.
